      The Fragrance Factory has been designed as a temporary retreat for a perfumer that has an interest in cultivating and distilling his or her own essences and sharing this work with the general public. Visitors have the opportunity to leave the busy street level and ascend through the public garden that is maintained atop the ruined structure of a tower along the Aurelian Wall before sampling scents that the perfumer has exhibited in the studio space above. The geometry of the residence allows visitors to continue to walk along the top of the wall to encourage future development, while the perfumer's living spaces sit alongside the inner face of the wall. More expansive garden areas are available to the perfumer on the inner side of the wall for his or her private use.
